Travis AFB showcased its unique capabilities to Lieutenant General Mark Ramsay, 18th Air Force Commander, and his wife Mrs. Patty Ramsay as they visited the base recently. Airmen gave the visitors a tour of the facilities, including the 60th Air Mobility Wing's tenant and partner units.
Reflecting on his visit, the commander said that he was most impressed by "the shining attitudes of the Airmen and personnel who make the mission happen."
It is these "shining attitudes" that may come in handy as the Air Force and Department of Defense as a whole make changes in the coming years. He explained that any Airman who has an idea that could help the Air Force save money or be more efficient should share it.
"Now more than ever, we need Airmen to be innovators, challenge the status quo," he said. "Now is the time to take advantage of education benefits. We want Airmen to be as broad and deep as they can possibly be. While performance matters the most, at the same time, it only makes the institution stronger to take advantage of what is offered to you."
Ramsay also explained that Travis AFB will be relied upon more to provide mobility forces as the American mission shifts from Afghanistan to Southwest Asia.
