With an ever changing landscape, the military is moving to try to streamline itself by promoting officers who have an understanding of the current situation the military is in. As combat troops move out of Iraq and remain in Afghanistan, the strategy and location of many troops may change. President Obama has nominated a few
Fort Bragg colonels for a promotion, in order to smoothly make the transition.
The three colonels were nominated for a promotion to brigadier general, according to the Fay Observer. The president chose Colonels Ferdinand Irizarry, Martin Schweitzer and Jeffery Sinclair.
Before the officers can be promoted the Senate must confirm their nominations, reports the news source.
Irizarry is currently the deputy commander of the John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School, while Schweitzer is the 82nd Airborne Division's deputy commander for operations. Sinclair is deputy commander for support, according to the news source.
The three colonels were on a list of 44 nominated for the positions as well.
