There will be new lodging options at Fort Lee.Contractors are putting the finishing touches on the largest military lodging center in the Army, The Associated Press reports.

The facility, which is set to be completed in June, is getting its the last pieces right now. Carpet is being laid and lights installed, the news outlet reports. The $86.3 million military hotel will offer 1,000 rooms to visiting soldiers and military students who are training at Fort Lee, located near Petersburg, New Jersey.

Local hotel and motel owners were opposed to the renovations at first, arguing that the new lodging center would harm business for them. However, the new facility will still fall short of providing enough rooms for all visiting military personnel, the news source reports. In addition, the the Army will continue to require visiting students to lodge off-base even after the facility has been completed.

Mike Thurman of the Fort Lee Family Morale, Welfare and Recreation office said that the first visitors are expected in the fall.
