Getting in shape and staying fit is easier than ever for sailors now that the Navy released the Navy Operational Fitness and Fueling Series application for smartphones, Military Times reports.
The app, available for iPhone and Android devices, allows sailors to access their library of exercises, routines and meal planning, which is convenient when they are at sea, the news outlet reports. What's better is that once the app has been downloaded, the content is on the sailor's phone, and no internet is needed to access the videos and other features.
So far, the app has been extremely well received among military members. Released in April, it had been downloaded almost 5,500 times by May 30, the news source reports.
In addition to its easy access, sailors like the app's particular features, according to Lisa Sexauer, the program manager for fitness, sports and deployed forces support at Navy Installations Command.
“They like the food choice features and the fact that there are videos so they can refine their own movement efficiencies,” she told the news outlet.
This app is not the first to be released by the Armed Forces to make fitness and wellness easy for servicemembers. Earlier this year, an app designed to help wounded warriors and their families easily access information about recovery coordination, medical care and various Department of Defense services and resources was released, according to the Army's official website.
