Military families overcome losses together at waterparkFamilies who lost a member fighting overseas were given a small but heartfelt thank you for the sacrifice with a free day at the Hawaiian Falls Waterpark in Mansfield, Texas, on Tuesday.

"I just love helping other people and listening to them, and I am always there for everyone, so it’s special to me," 16-year-old Brianne Morales told NBC News. She lost her father in 2009 in Afghanistan. Morales and her family spent the day at the waterpark with 19 other families. The time together reminded the families that they are not alone. They shared their stories and helped each other overcome their losses.

Three charitable organizations, the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation, nonprofit Snowball Express and the Hawaiian Falls Waterpark came together to provide this day of fun and community. Snowball Express formed in 2006 with the simple mission to provide hope and new memories to the children of fallen military heroes. The Rangers Foundation strives to improve the lives of children in need and sponsors programs and events to that end.

Families who have lost a fallen hero may register with Snowball Express to become involved with the program and register for future events.
