One of the biggest issues plaguing the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is its high amount of claims backlogs. An estimated 878,000 claims are waiting to be processed by VA officials, and many of them are older than 125 days, which is longer than the VA's ideal processing period.

There are many resources available to the country's millions of veterans, but all too often they may not have access to them or may not be aware as to what they are entitled.

Transitioning from active duty to civilian life is not always easy. Service members often face a number of obstacles as they move from the soldier lifestyle to that of a civilian, so it's no wonder that mandatory transition assistance workshops have become an important part of the process.
