Magazine to help families by improving military lodging

Wednesday, July 01, 2009, 11:02:25 PM
Some families could see their military lodging get an upgradeFree upgrades to military lodging could help out several families in South Carolina who will be getting the renovations thanks to a lifestyle magazine.

Operation L.O.V.E. will re-do the interiors of houses using How We Live Magazine designers for four families, one every three months starting July 4.

Staff from the magazine will work with the family to update one room or area of the house, which will then receive a spread in its next issue.

"Our magazine staffs many Gulf War veterans and this program shows our commitment to paying-it-forward," said Dana F. Tucker, How We Live Magazine publisher and editor-in-chief "[It's an] homage to them and those who are fighting for the freedoms we've come to appreciate today."

The magazine is limiting the contest to veterans of wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, but is hopeful that with the support of corporate sponsors, it will be able to expand the program to other states with a high military population.

"It is my hope that this campaign will resonate with others and inspire them to give back in some small way as well," Tucker added.
