Free getaway offers rehabilitation options for TBI patients

Free camping for TBI patients is one military discount travel optionMembers of the military who have had a traumatic brain injury have until July 27 to consider whether or not to take advantage of a military discount travel offer that offers incorporates assistance as part of a family-based program.

Casa Colina Centers for Rehabilitation says that the first session of its Survive and Thrive Veterans and Families Project will run September 17-20 near Big Bear Lake in California, according to a Military Times report.

"As part of our commitment to veterans with brain injury – recognized as the signature wound of the IAD – and their families, we are particularly interested in helping them find the best way to function together and get on with their lives with dignity and purpose," said Dr Felice L. Loverso, president and CEO of Casa Colina.

The program will include activities that will educate soldiers and their loved ones about how to deal with the effects of the injury, including new options for communication and family with the help of the centers' medical professionals.
