While the last of the combat troops have left Iraq, 200
Fort Hood soldiers have just left for the Middle Eastern country, in order to train the local military.
According to News 8 Austin, the Armored Cavalry Regiment deployed to Iraq on Wednesday with the mission of assisting and advising the new Iraqi military over the next year. Many soldiers will also monitor border crossing into the country.
The regiment was one of the first deployed to Iraq in 2003, according to the news source, and will be among the last of the peacekeeping troops to leave in 2011.
"I'm going to take it just like I took the last deployment," Reginald Wright, a member of the troop, told the news source. "I took it very serious. [I'm going to] go over there just so I can get home to my family."
The news provider reports that they will constantly be updating their Facebook page with photos from the deployment and updates on their progress.
