Fort Bragg families recently received 250 refurbished computers at a "Give-A-Thon" held at the Brigade General William S. McArthur Army Reserve Center,
Fort Bragg Patch reports.
It was the fourth year Kramden Institute Inc., a charitable organization in Durham joined with computer manufacturer Lenovo to give away the computers to children of enlisted men and women at Fort Bragg, many of whom have parents who are deployed to Afghanistan. The partnership has now brought 1,000 computers to military families at Fort Bragg.
"I can't wait to tell my dad and maybe talk to him online with our new computer," Amaya Tucker, a sixth grader who received a new computer with her mom at the event told the publication.
The event was hosted by the Fort Bragg Army Community Service (ACS) Financial Readiness Program in partnership with Child, Youth and School Services. The ACS provides a number of services to military families including parenting classes, counseling for a number of domestic issues and support services for events such as deployment, reunion and everything in between, according to its website.
