The "Stroller Warriors" provides a place for military wives to meet others. Stephanie Geraghty keeps busy with her role of leader of the Stroller Warriors, a running and fitness club for military moms on Camp Lejeune. Because of this, she was "completely surprised and humbled" when she found out she was a finalist for the Marine Corps Spouse of the Year award, the Camp Lejeune Globe reports.

However, she should not have been, say the people who nominated her. Geraghty serves as an encourager, innovator and leader, the news outlet reports. She began Stroller Warriors in 2010 as a way to connect with other moms on base who enjoyed running. Now, the running club is known throughout racing circuits, has more than 300 local members and 450 members worldwide.

"This is quite possibly the most positive and encouraging group I've ever been a part of in my life," Geraghty told the news source about the Stroller Warriors. "There's never a negative word uttered, and it's not because they don't have their challenges or bad days. They are so incredibly supportive of each other whether it's with running goals, dealing with deployments or even death. They're there for each other no matter what."
