Several teams from
Wright Patterson AFB are being recognized for their design skills at the 2010 Air Force Design Awards, earning medals and citations for their work over the past year.
In all, the installation took home 6 awards including one honor award, two merit awards and three citation awards representing a quarter of all design awards distributed to installations across the country by Air Force Material Command. It is a feat that Wright Field's Chief of Design Jim Balsamo is happy to have achieved.
"To win six awards in one year is an incredible achievement," Balsamo told the military press. "This year's achievement of winning six Air Force Design Awards is truly a testimony to the Civil Engineer Directorate's hard work and dedication to the principles of design excellence in partnership with the Louisville Corps of Engineers, regional architect-engineer firms and our local contractor community."
Many of the awards were for concept designs of on-base facilities including recent renovations to the 711th Human Systems Wing facility, the Information Technology Complex and the Security Forces Operations Center.
