While the military provides a valuable service to both the country and the community, their contributions are rarely celebrated outside of the Armed Forces. That's why it's news when a service member is recognized for their hard work as Colonel Bruce McClintock, the commander of the 96th Air Base wing at Eglin AFB
In a small ceremony held at the base's officer's club earlier in the week, McClintock was presented with the Jerome Waterman Award by the Florida Air Force Association. The award celebrates the efforts of Air Force personnel who work hard to foster strong relationships between military and local organizations. McClintock was selected by unanimous vote from Eglin AFA members, according to the military press.
"Colonel McClintock epitomizes what this award means, his body of work is impressive, his impact broad, he is most worthy of this recognition," Major General C.R. Davis, Air Armament Center commander, told the press. "He led the 96 ABW and the installation through its most challenging growth period in its 75-year history. I know of no one that could have handled these challenges as well as Bruce."
